Does everyone use their site logo as a way for visitors to return to the home page?

It seems to be an unwritten rule - I've always done it but I have noticed a few sites that don't.

It has become a standard rule because when crawler will crawl a page it will be redirected to home page by following its link.

umm how does the crawler know to use the link from the picture or link from the menu?? im lost with that... as for the picture logo link...i do not run one...not sure if thats good or bad?!?!

I think its a must for any website, whenever i cant locate the home button, I go straight for the logo. And its frustrating when the logo doesnt go to the home page. Definetly an unwritten rule on building webpages.
