Default Which web-host do you like the best ??

Hi,

I ask this question because I'm not that impressed with Crazy Domains at the moment.

I am a bit of a newbie to site admin, though, I've been working with computers since punch cards.

I find that the majority of the tech support at Crazy Domains have an English language barrier in that I find it difficult to understand them and it appears to me that they don't care about what I'm trying to tell them.

Does anyone else have that problem with the tech support of their webhosting ???

I've never heard of "crazy domains", but their website design, and name is enough to turn me off ever wanting to pay them money for hosting my websites or buying any services/products from them. It looks like a turnkey, and looks just stupid.

If you want local hosting use someone like jumba, or if you don't care I recommend Media Temple, or Surpass.

Very often, when people ask me about web hosting, they want to know if I know any cheap but good web host. This particularly applies to those who are just starting their web site and are not willing to sink a lot of money into it.

Personally I think the support is the most important consideration in a host - just about every time I've moved hosts its because of the support, or lack of it!

The issue is that we all have different support needs depending on what we use our hosting for (whether you're developing/programming, running third party scripts) and our own expertise level.

At $2.25 - $4.75/month for hosting at Crazy Domains I imagine the support would be fairly basic, that's a very cheap price to pay.

What type of things are you looking at doing?

Nothing spectacular. Just me being a newbie was hoping for support from people with a basic grasp of the English language.

I have been able to figure out most of my issues, but, have not been able to help Mum (Mum lives in Cairns, I'm just north of Sydney) configure her email client (Opera & Outlook Express) so that it reads from multiple different accounts (hotmail & accommodation@graywhale.com.au & something else) and successfully sends emails out. Have been able to get it to read emails, but, am stuck with sending emails out as the emails just sit in the outbox. But, I've fixed the contacts page so that it's an email sent from a form, instead of clicking on a "mailto:" link.....

It's all good. Thanks for everyone's help.....

As I'm not a web Master nor a web Developer, and as I've created this website for my folks as a favour (read: I'm not being paid anything).... Obviously, I'm not willing to sink much money into it.

I also had a problem with Crazy domains and once this year finishes I have to switch. There are so many promises on the their website. I thinks I should have read them properly if I would not have been in rush to see if they fit in your criteria.

aussiehost.com - moved there a few months back after being recommended by someone on another forum. Good for those with multiple sites.

They don't have reseller accounts but you can host as many domains as you want (within the resources available) and the prices are reasonable (around $15 per month)

You get WHM and Cpanel access so setting up hosting is a piece of cake.
