Is there a guide to how much you should be charging for people advertising on your site? e.g. is there a typical CPM or rate depending on PR?

Depends on many factors other then Just PR now.

Your niche,
your Traffic,
No follow or Do follow links,
How many current out going links you have,
Origin of Traffic!!! Important factor.

If you have about a pr3 link with maby 7 out going links,
about 1000 unique visitors a day
You might be able to sell them at about $10 usd a month each.

So $70/ month on links??

But if its a hell common niche like games website or something then lower...

Check your competitor first, see how much price he is charging for advertising.

This will help you in deciding about advertisement price.

There is not a fix criteria for this. Charges per link depends upon the buyer’s reputation, market value, targeted audience, presence of dofollow links, existing PR, current SEO practices etc. Some links may enhance your PR also, so in such cases you will have to consider some rebate.

It always depend on many factors. And yes, you must check how much other publishers charges their advertisers.
